PUBLIC AWARENESS GUIDE NOT A GOVERNMENT WEBSITE

Telangana — May 2026

Your Vote Is Being
Verified Right Now.

The Election Commission is mapping every voter in Telangana back to the 2002 electoral roll. If your name can't be linked, you may be asked to prove you belong. This guide walks you through exactly what to do.

Start the Process ↓

The rule is simple: If you, your parents, or your grandparents (maternal/paternal) were registered voters in 2002, you're safe. If you can't be traced back — the government will eventually ask you to prove your eligibility. Don't wait for that notice.

Phase 1

The Online Hunt

Before you deal with any government official, you need to find out if you or your family exist in the 2002 electoral records. Do this from your phone right now.

02

Search the 2002 Roll

The CEO website has a dedicated search for the 2002 electoral roll, along with downloadable PDFs organized by polling station.

You were 18+ in 2002?

Search for your own name.

You were a minor / born after 2002?

Search for your parents or grandparents (maternal/paternal).

03

Extract These Two Numbers

If you find a match, note down these two pieces of data. Screenshot or print the page — this documentation is essential for your verification.

Serial Number
Phase 2

Your Action Plan

What you do next depends entirely on what you found above. Read only the scenario that applies to you.

You found the name

No documents needed right now

Go to your local polling booth or designated center and hand over your 2002 Part Number and Serial Number. They will map you on the spot.

You can't find the name or navigate the website

Go offline — help desks are open

The GHMC has set up over 300 physical Help Desks across the 15 Assembly constituencies in Hyderabad — at least 20 per constituency.

What to do: Take your current Voter ID card. Walk into the nearest GHMC help desk. Ask them to manually map your current voter ID to the 2002 list.

You were an adult in 2002 but lived in another state

You will not be on the Telangana 2002 list

When you visit the booth, the BLO will note that you cannot be mapped. You will eventually receive a formal notice asking you to prove your eligibility. Start preparing your documents now — see Phase 3 below.

Phase 3

The Document Backup

If you completely fail to map yourself, your parents, or your grandparents to the 2002 list, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will send you a formal notice demanding proof of eligibility. Start collecting these now.

Aadhaar is proof of identity, not proof of citizenship for this revision. It alone will not be enough.
